Postdoctoral Fellow
Mel Scaccio, PsyD, is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Wellness Associates. She earned her Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University, Post, and also holds a Master of Science in Applied Psychology and a Master of Education in Special Education. Mel completed her pre-doctoral clinical internship at AHRC NYC, where she provided assessment and treatment to individuals across the lifespan with developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental health conditions. In this role, she gained extensive experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Intellectual Disability (ID), providing comprehensive evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment through individual and family therapy.
Mel is committed to utilizing evidence-based treatments while thoughtfully tailoring interventions to each client’s unique needs, strengths, and goals through a neurodivergent-affirming approach that honors individual differences. She believes the therapeutic relationship is central to healing and strives to create a warm, collaborative, and supportive environment where clients feel deeply understood and empowered to create meaningful change in their lives. Drawing on her background as a yoga teacher, Mel integrates mind-body awareness, emotion regulation, and stress management into her therapeutic approach. She is passionate about helping clients build resilience and live more balanced, fulfilling lives.
